Making Instrumentals:.

Post  Pika-chan_desu on Thu Aug 19, 2010 5:55 pm

Anyone know a certain program or method to making instrumentals? 8D'

There's a few songs I'm considering on dubbing on my own and I'm even thinking of starting my own little dub group inside of one of the projects I'm in(If allowed and I find someone who'd like to mix of course XD) But the problem is most of them don't have instrumentals.

What would really help me is if someone would explain how you make the instrumentals for concerts and such, and how concerts really work. I think that's the closest to what I'm trying to do.

Thank you all! Stay sparkling!

I know a really bad way to do it. 8D
Open the track on Audacity. Split the stereo track (so it becomes to seperate tracks instead of two joined together I don't know how to describe it), then select the bottom one. As the bottom one is selected, go to Effect > Invert. Once you do this, set each track to "Mono" (they should be Right Stereo Track and Left Stereo Track at first or something like that, and be aware that if you don't do this it won't work) and you've got yourself a horrible quality instrumental.

Well, some songs make good instrumentals but most sound a little iffy. This is the only way I know how to do it though. Try it out with different things and see what sounds good :]

I'm not too sure what you mean when you say split the track. Like, can you tell me exactly what to click and whatnot? 8D' Sorry.

Yeah, like. At the lefthand side of every audio track it shows the title and then an arrow. Click that and it opens a dropdown menu where you can split the track (you can set the tracks to Mono here, too).

After I open up the track, I click on the arrow. Both 'make stereo track' and 'split stereo track' are not clickable.

Does the track have two parts to it? Like, two bars of waves put together?
If not I can't help you because I had a song that only had one so I wasn't able to do it D: If it does, I'm not sure what the problem is, because it should be clickable.
